New Types of Work-From-Home Jobs For Freelance Writers

Just as the economy is a global entity, so is the job market - more and more. Following are some new telecommuting jobs brought on by the virtual economy that likely didn't exist a decade ago.

1. SEO Copywriter: Many still don't know what this job is. But, it's a booming freelance writing job that is most done by telecommuters. What exactly does an SEO Copywriter do? First, to explain, SEO stands for search engine optimization.

SEO Copywriters write text in such a way that it makes a website or blog easier to find online. Webmasters, web design firms, internet marketing firms and advertising agencies all pay good money to these professionals to produce massive amounts of content.

How much do SEO Copywriters make? Freelance writing rates - in any niche - are all over the map. Rates range from a pithy $1-$5 for a 350-word article on up to $100 or more.

Most are in the $15-$35 range for 300-400 words.

If you want to work from home as a freelance writer, this is one profession you definitely want to investigate further.

2. Social Marketing Maven: What is this? A social marketing maven creates and updates profiles and posts on social networking and bookmarking sites like Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, StumbleUpon, LinkedIn, etc.

As most of these sites require constant interaction to build base, freelancers are usually employed to keep up the accounts. This is the newest form of "free" marketing on the net that is quite effective.

How much do social marketing jobs pay? Again, it depends. Freelancers charge anywhere from $15-$75 to set up an account initially. Then, they charge another fee to update the account with posts, respond to queries, etc.

Who uses social marketing mavens? Internet marketers and entrepreneurs, e-tailers, online retailers, etc. If your business is online, it needs to engage in social marketing and networking because the benefits can't be ignored. For example, did you know that MySpace has 122 million users. Even a tiny fraction of this traffic can be a boon to any business - large or small.

3. Professional Blogger: These days, it seems that everybody and their brother has a blog. But now, it's a real profession. Companies actually pay freelance writers to blog. What do they blog about? Breaking news in a profession; dispense advice, tips and tricks of a niche; relevant industry happenings; etc. The list is endless.

How much do blogging jobs pay? It depends on the industry, the type of content and the rate of the freelancer. Rates can start as little as $5 per post, on up to $50 or more. Most are in the $10-$20/post range.

We live in the age of new media, which has produced quite a few new professions. And, luckily for those who want a telecommuting job, many of these new media jobs are "work from home" jobs.
