Beyond the Internet - Telecommuting Jobs Are Close to Home

I can't say it enough without sounding like a broken record, but finding a work at home job online can be very difficult even for someone with a lot of experience. I recently came across someone who was having a very hard time getting hired. It wasn't the lack of experience under her belt, as a matter of fact, it looked as if she would have no problems obtaining her work at home job. Unfortunately, it's not the case and like many others she's about to throw in the towel.

The online working world is extremely fierce and competitive. It's truly the perfect dream to be working out of your home and in a very real sense it can be done because there are real people doing it already.

But why is it so difficult to find employment online if a lot of people are living this life? There are just not enough jobs to go around. There are many under qualified or over qualified people. So what do you do? Are you telling me now it's too late and I won't ever have the chance of working at home because there are not enough positions for everyone? Absolutely not!

Stop and think for a moment. The virtual companies look as if they are saturated with a daily constant flow of people looking for work online. This continuous flow is not going to stop any time soon. You're competing against a lot of people with different levels of skills and experience making it that much harder for you to stand out from the rest. Even virtual companies experience lay offs and high turnover rates due to not having enough work for their Independent Contractors.

Now, really stop and think...

Although you're looking to work at home, you have an unsaturated market outside your door. No, I'm not saying get an outside job. I'm saying go out in your own hometown with a written proposal and a prepared oral presentation and find your work at home job. You never know unless you ask, right? Remember, it's not why you want to work from home, but why it would benefit the employer. There will be plenty of time later for you to explain why you would be the perfect work at home candidate.

You may not be able to pounce on a telecommuting job right away. There may be a trial period to work out all the kinks, but it's certainly a step in the right direction.

Sometimes we forget to look beyond our monitors and think working from home is solely dedicated to finding our work at home job online when in fact, stepping outside your door may be a better and more worthwhile alternative
